Katie Scherer of Tampa Bay Breathe Free Honored with Above and Beyond Award at National Breathe Free Conference

National Breathe Free hosted its annual Breathe Free Conference from April 24 to 28, giving out several awards, including the Above and Beyond Award to Katie Scherer of Tampa Bay Breathe Free.

"The Above and Beyond Award is given to those who consistently exceed expectations, and Katie Scherer at Tampa Bay Breathe Free is a perfect example,” said Taylor Borane, Chief Operations Officer at National Breathe Free. “Her exceptional dedication and willingness to go the extra mile make a significant impact on our team. Katie’s outstanding efforts truly set her apart." 

Katie graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida before completing her Physician Assistant Studies degree at South University in March 2020. She began her medical career at Tampa General Hospital, specializing in Otolaryngology ("ENT") after completing residency training in a surgical subspecialty. Katie is a licensed Physician Assistant in Florida with national certification from the NCCPA. She actively participates in professional organizations, including the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Other awards given out during the multi-day event included: Sierra Wuertz of Scottsdale Sinus and Allergy, who won the Integrity Award; George Yateem of National Breathe Free, who won the Gratitude Award; Roxanne Fritz of SoCal Burbank Breathe Free, who won the Max Effort Award; Shawn Byrnes of Marina Del Rey, who won the Rookie of the Year Award; Daniel Costello of Frederick Breathe Free, who won the Extreme Ownership Award; Tia Tiebklang of Gulf Coast Breathe Free, who won the Heart and Hustle Award; Mark Kline of Frederick Breathe Free, who won the Lauren Campbell Award, James Gould of St. Louis Sinus Center, who won the Jack Matthew Award; Lynette Messerole of National Breathe Free, who won the Compassion Award; and Charles Rinaldo of National Breathe Free, who won the Commitment Award.
